Quick Start Guide

STEP 1: Update Firmware

Please disregard previous versions of Zen firmware and Zen Studio. The new firmware functions independently from other tools.

HUGELY, GINORMOUSLY, ABSURDLY IMPORTANT

Listen up people, this is important stuff:

  1. In Zen Studio , don't use the Tools > Firmware Update option. Even if it suggests updating to the latest version, it'll only go up to Beta 50 and you'll get dumb "Firmware Version Incompatible" errors.
  2. The newer firmware has its own standalone update tool, which you will find in the instructions below.

Video Walkthrough

This video walks you through updating to the latest firmware using the tools on this page.

Known Issues

Known Issues Last Updated: Sept 18th 2023
Known Issue
Connecting a controller may sometimes cause an E3 error code. Solution: Unplug all cables from Zen then try again.
Known Issue
Mac users who have installed Windows using Bootcamp may receive a "No Devices Found" message. It depends on the chipset/MacOS version. Unfortunately we're unable to offer Mac support.
Known Issue
XB1_SHARE can not be set in GPC scripts. Assigning any value to it will always output as 0.
Known Issue
set_ps4_lbar() not working with a wireless connection (works with USB).
Known Issue
When compiling a script that includes constant arrays, they will not be included in the compiled code directly. Instead they are turned into functions which call their values from the data segment.
Known Issue
Scripts using PIO_PS4 made for firmware Beta.50 and older, will now need to use PIO_PS5 instead for gaming on the PlayStation 5.
Known Issue
uint16 arrays are not currently supported. This will likely cause older scripts to malfunction. This doesn't affect GamePacks.
